Rex Deacon: No Rest for the Wicked – Part 1

A new bounty was on the horizon for Rex Deacon, the legendary hunter with a reputation as unyielding as desert stone. The infamous Floridian outlaw, Gio Van Bueno, had been raising hell, his recent exploits suggesting he’d gotten his hands on some classified intel that had the feds in a frenzy.

With a hot tip pointing toward Las Vegas, Rex set off in pursuit of Van Bueno. The city greeted him with its familiar neon glimmer, an arena where the line between law and chaos blurred.

In this city of odds, Rex sought help from old allies: Esme “The Duchess” Delgado, an ex-casino card dealer with an extraordinary talent for deception, and Leo “The Lion” Moretti, a retired boxing champion channeling his grit into mentoring young fighters in a run-down gym.

Their assistance came with a price, however. They wanted Rex to aid them in taking down a local drug lord, Terrence “The Hawk” Sullivan. A retired cop from Minnesota, Sullivan had turned his back on law and order, choosing instead to rule the underbelly of Vegas with an iron fist from his fortress within the Luxor Pyramid.

Sullivan’s network was a poison spreading through the city’s veins. His descent into the criminal world was the fallout of a bitter divorce and a pension that didn’t last. He’d found the allure of power and money in the drug trade impossible to resist, leveraging his knowledge from his days on the force to keep one step ahead of the law. His reign brought tragedy to the Duchess and the Lion; their wards had been ensnared in Sullivan’s toxic web.

With the promise of assistance in capturing Van Bueno, Rex agreed to their terms. And so began the dance of destruction as they waged war against Sullivan’s empire.

The city became a battleground, its glitz and glamor drowned in a wave of violence. The Hawk’s henchmen fell, one by one, but not without a cost. They finally cornered Sullivan in his Luxor sanctuary, but the final confrontation was brutal.

With the Hawk’s talons at his throat, Sullivan offered a deal: information about Van Bueno in exchange for his life. But Rex wasn’t a man to bargain with scum. Sullivan fell, but not before taking down the brave Lion, Moretti sacrificing himself to secure victory.

The fall of the Hawk marked the end of an oppressive era. Yet, victory was bittersweet, with the Duchess and Rex mourning their fallen ally. Honouring Leo’s memory, they vowed to continue their initial quest.

As the neon glow of Vegas began to dim, the silhouette of the elusive Gio Van Bueno cast a long shadow on Rex Deacon’s path. His quest was far from over, and the City of Sin had more tales to tell.
